Works for projectors too! 1. Color Targets Check that all colors are displayed correctly. 2. Resolution Targets Check monitor resolution/sharpness. 3. Full Screen Solid Color Targets Detect dead pixels and check even illumination. 4. Full Screen Flatness Targets Check display flatness. Use to adjust monitor keystoning, barrel/pincushion if available. 5. Contrast Targets Check how many different brightness levels can be displayed. Use to adjust monitor brightness and contrast settings. 6. Total Resolution Size Chart Simple check of total number of pixels displayed by monitor. 7. Links Links to other websites.

1. Color Targets

Quick check to see if any color channel is disabled e.g. loose monitor cable. Computer monitors create other colors by combining red, green and blue; so check these colors to see if any of these color channels are disabled.  

Also check for color fringing (bleeding) at the edges of the boxes.

2. Resolution Targets

Check to see if the graphics card resolution is set higher than what the monitor can display.

Also check sharpness and accuracy of monitor display.

• Adjoining colored and black/white lines, should have the same widths.
• Lines and dots should be uniformly solid, with clear edges.
• There should be no shimmering / interference / moire patterns.

Different colors might react differently, so check each color separately.

3. Full Screen Solid Color Targets

For best results, maximize browser window (press F11, press again to return to normal). Use <backspace> key to return to this page.

Use Black to detect stuck (always on) pixels, White to detect dead (always off) pixels. Wipe monitor with a damp cloth first - could be dirt instead.

Also use Black to check "maximum black" level. Display should be totally dark, with no sign of light. This is especially difficult for LCD monitors.

Black - White

Use the other colors to check even-illumination across the entire screen. View monitor from different angles.

Red - Green - Blue

Cyan - Magenta - Yellow

4. Full Screen Flatness Targets

Use to adjust monitor keystoning, barrel/pincushion distortion.

Web browser should not be set to "fit page to window width" or similar setting. Otherwise the image below may not accurately indicate the monitor resolution.

For best results, press F11 to maximize brower window. Press F11 again to return to normal.
